Workshop | Technology and Security. Between Geopolitics and Law
The workshop Technology and Security. Between Geopolitics and Law marks the concluding event of the PRIN2020 project “Decision-Making in the Age of Emergencies. New Paradigms in Recognition and Protection of Rights” (Principal Investigator Prof. Arianna Vedaschi). Bringing together scholars from leading international universities and research institutes, the event examines how technological innovation is reshaping geopolitical dynamics and contemporary security strategies.
Through an interdisciplinary lens, the workshop explores the role of emerging technologies — in particular artificial intelligence — in influencing decision-making processes, power balance, and national security priorities. Both conceptual and applied dimensions are addressed: from current geopolitical issues, to the ethical and technical challenges posed by artificial intelligence, to its concrete deployment in security and military domains.
By fostering dialogue across law, geopolitics, and technology studies, the event aims to point out how rapid technological change is redefining global competition, strategic vulnerabilities, and the governance frameworks that seek to manage them.
