Donato Masciandaro (Baffi honorary president and MONETA research unit director, in the photo), Paolo Pinotti (research fellow at Baffi Centre) and Giovanna Marcolongo (fellow of the Baffi Centre) are speaking at the fifth edition of the workshop “Metodi quantitativi e contrasto alla criminalità economica”, organised by UIF (Unità di Informazione Finanziaria per l’Italia of the Bank of Italy) in collaboration with Baffi Centre of Bocconi University

The workshop will be held on Friday, 28 November at the ‘Carlo Azeglio Ciampi’ Conference Centre in Via Nazionale 190 in Rome from 9.30 a.m. to 12.20 a.m. The initiative aims to provide an opportunity for the research community, government institutions involved in the prevention and combating of economic crime, and the banking and financial sector to meet. The presentations will be informative rather than technical in nature, in order to facilitate a discussion that could be useful both for research and scientific understanding of economic crime phenomena and for the prevention and combating of such phenomena.

After the introductory remarks by Angelini (Bank of Italy), Serata (director of Unità di Informazione Finanziaria per l’Italia – Bank of Italy) and Masciandaro, the first session of the workshop will go deep into the perspective of the judicial authorities and investigative bodies, thanks to the intervention of the attorney Savio and Dia (Direzione investigativa antimafia) director Carbone. The second session covers mafia and businesses, thanks to the speeches of Macchiavello (Lse), Pinotti (Bocconi University) and Marcolongo (Bocconi University). Finally, in the third session Iezzi (Uif- Bank of Italy) and Le Moglie (Catholic University of Milan) talk about mafia and local politics.
