Damiano Canale
Damiano Canale is a professor of Philosophy of Law and Critical Thinking at Bocconi University, Milan. He studied Political Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Padua, where he holds a PhD in Philosophy of Law. He was visiting scholar at the Max-Plank-Institut für Europäische Rechtsgeschichte, the Yale Law School, the University of Oxford, Pompeu Fabra University. Damiano recently was the inaugural Julius Stone Professorial Fellow at the University of Sydney Law School. His research interests cover philosophy of language, metaethics, legal reasoning and legal argumentation, biolaw, AI ethics. Damiano’s papers have been published on several top journals in the field, such as Law and Philosophy, the American Journal of Law and Jurisprudence, Jurisprudence, Ratio Juris, Informal Logic, Argumentation. In his current research project he investigates the role played by experts in judicial decision-making and how scientific expertise shapes the content of legal regulation.
