Nicola Limodio is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance at Bocconi University and Research Unit Director of the FINAFRICA unit in the BAFFI research center. He earned his PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2017 and holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Economics from the University of Pisa and Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.​

Previously, he held visiting positions at Princeton University and the University of Chicago and consultancy positions at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

His research focuses on finance and development and, in particular, studying the role of financial institutions in Africa and other emerging markets, identifying their constraints and sources of market imperfections. His main projects took place in Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Colombia.

He has authored numerous articles published in top journals in economics and finance such as Econometrica, the Review of Economic Studies and the Review of Financial Studies.​
